Change Log
A change log, which is also called a revision log, is a document that shows how a project, process, or product has changed over time. It shows how the original version has been changed, updated, and made better over time.
Most of the time, a change log includes the following:
When things will change
Tells about the change
Why the change happened
Who or what is in charge of the change?
Where things stand (e.g. implemented, in progress, rejected)
The product, process, or project’s version number or release number
The goal of a change log is to make sure that the change management process is open and fair. It helps people who have an interest in the project or product understand why and when changes were made, who made them, and what effect they had on the project or product.
In software development, the release notes of a new version of the software often include a change log. It is also used to keep track of changes to project plans, timelines, and budgets in project management.
