Description
A technique that is used to measure, compare, and analyze the quality, resource, schedule, and cost performance against the baseline or an agreement.

In procurement management, it is used to measure the sellers’ performance on the contract to the date. It can take the form of an audit or inspection document. The key objective is to determine whether the sellers are meeting the expected values (standards) of cost, quality, schedule, or scope and dealing with the issues thereof so as to bring them back on track or take other corrective action (e.g. terminating the contract).
In schedule management, it is focused on the schedule of activities done and the time required to do the remaining tasks. Several techniques are used e.g. Critical Path Method, Critical Chain Method, Earned Value Management (SV, SPI), and Trend Analysis to measure the schedule performance.
In quality management, it is used to plan, measure, and do an analysis of the results based on a quality matrix against the pre-decided expected results.
In resource management, it is mainly used to plan, measure, and analyze resource utilization (planned vs actual). This is done in conjunction with the cost and scheduled work performance of the project.
