Story Map
A story map is a tool used in project management to show a product or project backlog in a structured way. It makes it easier to see the requirements and features that need to be built and to put them in order of how important they are to the end user.
There are two main parts of a story map as mentioned below.
User Journey
The user journey is the steps a person takes to reach a goal. It is usually shown as a horizontal line or a set of columns, with each column representing a step in the user’s journey. The user journey is broken up into user activities or user tasks, which are the main steps the user takes to reach their goal.
Product Backlog
The product backlog is a list of features and requirements that need to be built to support the user journey. On the story map, each feature or requirement is shown on a card. The most important things are at the top of the map.
By showing both the user journey and the product backlog, the story map helps project teams decide which features to build first based on the needs and goals of the users. This can help make sure that the most important features are built first and that the project team stays focused on delivering the features that will have the biggest impact on the end user.
The story map is a living document that is changed throughout the project’s lifecycle. It can be used to help project team members and stakeholders work together and talk to each other.
