Schedule Model
A schedule model is a picture of a plan or timeline that shows the order of tasks that need to be done to finish a project or reach a goal. A schedule model usually shows information like when each activity starts and ends, how activities depend on each other, what resources each activity needs, and the critical path.
A critical path is the order of tasks that must be done on time for the project to be finished or the goal to be reached by the deadline. Any delays on the critical path can throw off the whole schedule and make it possible for the project to take longer than planned to finish.
Schedule models come in many forms as mentioned below.
- Gantt Charts
- Schedule Network Diagram
- PERT Chart
Each of these models has its own pros and cons, and choosing one may depend on the type of project, the size of the team, and the resources that are available.
A well-made schedule model can help project managers spot possible risks and problems, divide up resources well, and make sure the project stays on track. It also gives stakeholders and team members a way to find out about the project’s progress and timetable.
