Impact mapping is a method used in software development, project management, and product development to make sure that everyone involved in a project or product has the same idea of what its goals are and to find the best way to reach those goals.
At its core, Impact Mapping is a visual, group-based method that aims to answer four important questions:
Why do we have to do this? What are the most important things we want to do?
Who are the people who have a stake in this? Whose lives will this project or product change?
What are the most important things we need the partners to do for us to reach our goals?
How can we tell how far we’ve come and if we’re making progress towards our goals?
To answer these questions, an Impact Map is made. This is a picture of how the project’s goals, partners, habits, and measures relate to each other. The Impact Map helps to define the project’s goals, find possible problems, and decide which steps to take first to reach the desired results.
effect mapping is a useful tool for getting project partners to work together and agree on the same goals, as well as for focusing on the activities that will have the most effect. It can be used at any stage of a project, from early planning to current development and review. It can also be used for a wide range of projects, such as software development, marketing efforts, and organizational change initiatives.
