Wideband Delphi
Wideband Delphi is a consensus-based method used in project management and requirements gathering to gather and refine expert views in order to reach a consensus on a certain topic or problem. It is often used when feedback from multiple stakeholders or subject matter experts needs to be gathered in a structured and organised way. Usually, the following steps make up the process:
1. Preparation: The facilitator or project manager chooses the problem or topic that the Wideband Delphi method will be used to solve. They make a list or set of questions that will be used to get feedback from the people who are going to the meeting.
2.Selection of Experts: A group of experts or stakeholders with relevant information and expertise on the subject is chosen. The experts are chosen based on how well they can give useful information and make good decisions.
3. Initial Input: Each of the chosen experts gives their own input on the problem or topic by filling out the form or giving their thoughts on the statements. This can be done in secret to get more honest answers.
4. Feedback from the group: The guide puts together what each person says and gives a summary of the answers to the group of experts. This summary could include a range of answers, common themes, and places where people differ.
5. conversation and Clarification: The experts take part in a guided conversation to clear up any points of confusion, deal with points of disagreement, and try to get a better understanding of the problem or topic. The goal is to share ideas and thoughts so that everyone can come to the same conclusion.
6. Iterative Rounds: Each person gives their opinion, the group gives comments, and then everyone talks about it until the experts agree on something. Each round gives the experts a chance to look over and change their ideas based on what the group says.
7. Consensus and Final Decision: As the rounds repeat, the experts move closer and closer to a decision that everyone agrees on. The facilitator or project manager writes down the final choices or outcomes that everyone agrees on.
Wideband Delphi helps take advantage of the group’s intelligence and knowledge by giving a structured way to collect and improve views. It encourages honest and open conversation, lessens the power of dominant personalities, and makes it harder for people to push their own biases or agendas. By using the Wideband Delphi method, projects can use the views and knowledge of experts. This makes decisions better and makes it more likely that the project will be successful.
