Impact Mapping
Impact mapping is a way to show how the goals or outcomes of a project are linked to the activities or strategies that are needed to reach those goals. It is a tool for planning and managing projects that can help teams work together towards a common goal and figure out the best way to reach that goal.
Most of the time, there are four main steps in the process of impact mapping:
Defining the goal means figuring out what the team wants the project or initiative to accomplish. This could be a business goal, a social impact, or any other measurable result.
Identifying the actors: Next, the team figures out who or what can help reach the goal, such as stakeholders, customers, or partners.
Mapping the effects: Next, the team makes a map of the effects or results that the project could have on each of the actors they’ve identified. This could include changes in behaviour, attitudes, or metrics, as well as any benefits.
Getting clear on the activities: Lastly, the team figures out what activities or plans are needed to reach each of the mapped effects or outcomes. This could mean making new products or services, putting in place new processes or policies, or interacting with stakeholders in certain ways.
By using impact mapping, teams can make a clear, visual representation of their project goals and make sure that their activities are in line with these goals. This can help make the project better and make it more likely to succeed.
Usage
It is used in Project Planning
