Gantt Chart
A Gantt chart is a visual picture of a project’s plan. It shows the tasks and activities that need to be done and when they need to be done. Henry Gantt, an American engineer and management consultant, was the first person to use this kind of chart. He did this at the beginning of the 20th century.
A Gantt chart usually has a horizontal axis that shows time as days, weeks, or months, and a vertical axis that shows the different jobs and activities that are part of the project. Each task is shown as a horizontal bar with a length that shows how long it will take to finish. The bars are set up so that they show how the different tasks rely on each other.
Gantt charts help project managers see the big picture of a project’s schedule and figure out where there might be scheduling problems or delays. They can also be used to keep track of work and let partners know how a project is going. Gantt charts are built into a lot of software tools for managing projects.
