Gantt Chart
A Gantt chart is a tool for managing projects that shows the schedule of a project in a visual way. It is a bar chart that shows the start and end dates of each task or activity, as well as how long they take and which tasks they depend on.
Gantt charts are helpful because they show project managers the big picture of a project’s schedule and help them figure out which tasks must be done on time to keep the project on track. They also make it possible to find potential conflicts between resources and change the project schedule as needed.
Most Gantt charts have a horizontal axis that shows how long the project will take, usually in days, weeks, or months. The tasks or activities that make up the project are written along the vertical axis. The start date of each task is on the left side of the bar, and the end date is on the right.
Lines or arrows between the bars show how tasks depend on each other. For example, if Task A must be finished before Task B can begin, there would be a line or arrow from the end of Task A’s bar to the beginning of Task B’s bar.
You can use a spreadsheet or project management software to make a Gantt chart by hand. They are a great way to show the progress of a project to stakeholders and team members, and they are also a great way to see how a project is going.
