A scheduling technique where the work in the near term is planned in detail and the future assignments are planned at a high level.
It is an adaptive development approach.
AGILE
It is popular in the Agile approach where a backlog of tasks related to user requirements is available and each time some of them are picked to be completed.
WATERFALL
It is also used in the Waterfall model to have detailed planning of the in the next 1-2 months and a high-level plan is crafted for the distant future beyond 3 months since less information may be available for the longer-term tasks. So as time unfolds more and more details about the tasks are elaborated.
It is used in Schedule Management in the Planning phases of the project.
It is an independently-used project management tool.
