Must Have | PMP Aspirants |
Less than 5% of the total project managers worldwide are actually PMP certified and this itself speaks volumes how much you stand out from the crowd when you apply for a new job. The big IT services firms fight tooth and nail to bag consulting assignments where they have to prove their technical prowess in terms of credential holders of PMP and allied certified professionals to boost their competitive strength and to place them a notch above others. Many doors to complex onsite-project-management-assignments get opened, which otherwise would not unless you are a PMP. After being a PMP, you command respect as a Project Manager within your organizations and from the clients alike. It is not that PMP teaches you some magic but the grueling test that you qualify says you know in-depth about project management. You can’t be a PMP by simply beating about the bushes. You may expect a salary hike. In general, the PMP certified project managers get paid somewhere around 10–30% more than their peers who are not PMP certified in India. Some employers make it a plain condition for the PMs that you should be a PMP e.g. Microsoft or Amazon. Others invariably give preference to PMP certified professionals.
