What is Request for Information (RFI)?

A Request for Information (RFI) in project management is comparable to browsing online to learn more about a product before purchasing it in that it is asking for basic data or background information about a product or service before making a choice. It is a formal document intended to collect particular information about possible vendors or suppliers’ skills, offers, or expertise without demanding a formal proposal or price. Before making any commitments or choices, the RFI seeks broad information on the vendor’s goods, services, or solutions to assist project managers in understanding what options are available in the market and whether these suppliers satisfy the project’s needs.
