What is Probability and Impact Matrix?
In project management, the Probability and Impact Matrix is a tool that helps you find out which hazards could create the most problems for your project, akin to ranking different storms based on how probable they are to inflict damage and how serious that damage might be. It’s a grid that helps project managers prioritize risks by taking two factors into account: how likely a risk event is to occur (probability) and how much it might influence the project if it occurs (impact). Using this matrix, you may concentrate on addressing the risks that are both more likely to occur and have a substantial impact on the project, allowing you to better prepare for and manage these possible issues. Essentially, it’s a method of sorting through risks and focusing on the ones that are most likely to cause problems for your project.
