What is Critical Path Activity?

In project management, a Critical Path Activity is analogous to the most critical task on a to-do list. Assume you have a number of jobs to complete for a large project—some may be completed concurrently, while others must wait for specific items to be completed first. The key route activity is similar to that work that, if even slightly delayed, will cause the entire project to take longer. It is the most important action since it decides how quickly you can do everything. Identifying these important activities allows managers to focus their attention on the tasks that must be completed correctly and on time in order to keep the project on track.
