What is a Start-to-Start (SS) relationship?
In project management, the Start to Start (SS) Relationship is similar to a collaboration method in which one activity begins at the same time or shortly after another task begins. It’s similar to a relay race, with the next racer taking off as soon as the previous one does. When tasks in a project have an SS connection, it signifies that the second task may begin as soon as the first one begins since they are linked at their beginning locations. For example, if Task A is assembling equipment and Task B is testing it, Task B can begin testing as soon as Task A begins assembling. It’s a method to keep things going without having to wait for one task to finish completely before starting the next.
