What is Late Start Date (LS)?

Late Start (LS) is a moment in time where a job or activity may begin without disrupting the overall project timeline, analogous to catching a later bus without missing your end destination. It is the latest possible time for a work to begin without affecting overall project delays. For example, if you have a report due in a week but know you can start it three days before the deadline without any issues, your Late Start is three days. It is a little of schedule flexibility that permits jobs to begin later than intended as long as they do not impede the overall development of the project.
