Project governance in project management is analogous to the rules and standards that keep everything in check during a project, much like the rules that ensure a fair game in sports. It’s a structure that defines the rules, responsibilities, and decision-making procedures that will keep the project on track and aligned with the organization’s goals. Defining who is in control, how decisions are taken, and how progress is tracked and reported is all part of project governance. It’s similar to having referees in a game, ensuring that everyone respects the agreed-upon rules, allowing for openness and responsibility, and ultimately leading the project toward success.
