In project management, Schedule Variance (SV) is equivalent to comparing predicted progress to actual progress on a project timeframe. It’s a little like planning to do a puzzle in an hour but only completing half of it. Schedule Variance informs you if you’re ahead, behind, or on track relative to what you expected to have done by a given moment. You’re ahead of schedule if the variance is positive. If it is negative, you are falling behind. It’s a good method to see how well your project’s timetable follows your initial goals, allowing you to change and manage time more effectively if necessary.
